Some people think that chewing gum or eating breath freshener mints makes you have good teeth. In reality, they make you have fresh breath but this does not mean that your teeth are ok!
Dentists say that regular brushing (morning and before bed) and regular visits to the dentist will help prevent gum disease and stop you needing more treatment when you go to the dentists. (We all hate the drill!!)
So we need to remove plaque (which is a bacteria that builds up on your teeth) with a toothbrush, and brushing helps to keep your gums healthy too!
